Thu 05 Jun 25: Colombo / Dambulla / Sigiriya / Habarana
➤Colombo to Dambulla Approx: 3 hours / Dambulla to Sigiriya Approx: 30 40 minutes / Sigiriya to Habarana Approx: 25 30 minutes After breakfast, transfer to Dambulla. Visit the Dambulla Cave Temple.
Dambulla located in the north-central province of this UNESCO World Heritage Site which dates back to the 01st century BC, is an amazing complex of 05 caves, first used as a refuge by an ancient king who on regaining his throne, commissioned magnificent carved images within the living rock. Later kings made further improvements and the caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is a colossal figure spanning 15 meters. Cave inscriptions from the 2nd Century BC are found and on the walls, are many paintings most of which belong to the Kandy period (early 19th century).
This temple is a perfect location to view the evolution of ancient Sri Lankan art and is an important historical site due to the amalgamation of materials from many eras. Thereafter visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Sigiriya - A mighty 600 ft. high rock-fortress of a 5th century King is famous for its entrancingly beautiful frescoes which are found in a sheltered pocket of the rock. One cannot fail to marvel at the masterful execution of the sinuous forms of these women (originally 500, of which only 19 remain today). The old stairway to the top led through the mouth of a huge crouching lion, carved from the rock- today only the paws remain. The remains of the handsome royal citadel are on the summit. ➤Habarana to Hiriwadduna Approx: 10 to 15 minutes / Hiriwadduna to Anuradhapura Approx: 1 1.5 hours / Anuradhapura to Habarana Approx: 1 1.5 hours After breakfast, proceed to do a Hiriwadduna village trek. A leafy hamlet located in the North Central province of Sri Lanka the village of Hiriwadunna offers another ideal opportunity for travelers to observe local rural life up-close. The tour through the village includes an excursion through the countryside, along mud-thatched village huts, flourishing paddy fields, streamlets, rivers and springs of crystal clear. The banana plantations in the village make up for an interesting visit. The tour also includes visits to the scenic reservoir in Hiriwadunna, which is crossed by a boat to reach a chena cultivation, where the travelers would be able to set their eyes on the scenic sights of the village atop a tree house built on a lone tree midst the cultivations. Visitors are also able to visit the local cottages where they can relish the taste of a hot cup of ginger-infused tea and witness skillful carvings made on old roots. Afterward, proceed to do a city tour of Anuradhapura. Visit the ruins of the first capital founded in the 05th century BC. Here is found the largest number of ancient monuments of a great civilization. Buddhism found its first real home in Sri Lanka at Anuradhapura, and it thus contains some of Sri Lankan Buddhism's most secret sights. The Sri Maha Bodhi tree in Anuradhapura, planted from a cutting from the original Bo Tree under which the Buddha received enlightenment, continue to draw thousands of Buddhist pilgrims from around the world. The pillars of the brazen palace which once had nine stories, the image of the Samadhi Buddha which is one of the finest pieces of Buddhists sculpture, the twin ponds, guard-stones, and the moon-stones are amazing remains of a great civilization. There are also monuments such as Ruwanveli Seya Dagoba with its famous elephant wall from the 2nd Century B.C. and the Thuparama Dagoba from the 3rd Century B.C.

Sat 07 Jun 25: Habarana / Minneriya /Polonnaruwa / Trincomalee
➤Habarana to Minneriya Approx: 10 to 15 minutes / Minneriya to Polonnaruwa Approx: 30 40 minutes /Polonnaruwa to Trincomalee Approx: 2.5 3 hours With packed breakfast, proceed to do a morning jeep safari at Minneriya National Park. Located between Habarana and Polonnaruwa, the 8,890 hectares of Minneriya National Park consists of mixed evergreen forest and scrub areas and is home to elephants. However, the central feature of the park is the ancient Minneriya Tank (built in 3rd century AD by King Mahasena). During the dry season (June to September), this tank is an incredible place to observe the elephants who come to bathe and graze, as well as the huge flocks of birds (cormorants and painted storks to name but a few) that come to fish in the shallow waters. Afterwards, proceed to visit Polonnaruwa ancient city. This medieval city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, rose to fame as the capital (10th - 12th century AD) after the decline of Anuradhapura. The entire landscape of the region is punctuated by huge man-made reservoirs, the most famous of which is the Parakrama Samudra or the Sea of Parakrama, larger in size than the Colombo harbor. The monuments are relatively well preserved and give clear evidence of the glory of Sri Lanka's past. Thereafter, transfer to Trincomalee.

The name of the port city of Trincomalee is derived from the Tamil word Tirukonamalai. In ancient texts, Trincomalee has been referred as Gokama. Trincomalee Beach/Bay is historically significant as many travelers like Ptolemy and Marco Polo have arrived here. It became an important destination for East Asian and Chinese sea traders at one point in time. The mention of this sea port is found in Mahavamsa. Foreign powers like the Dutch, French, English, and Portuguese have fought for the mastery of this harbor.Visit the historic Koneswaram Hindu Temple perched on swami rock with panoramic ocean views. Visit the enjoy Nilaveli Beach. Afterward, proceed to visit Pigeon Island. Optional: Do snorkeling and diving at Pigeon Island and discover vibrant coral reefs and marine life. Kandy was home to Sri Lanka's last independent Kingdom, which survived two centuries of colonial incursion before finally falling to the British at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Early evening, you will visit a Kandyan Dance performance and be treated to a spectacular fire walking finale. Kandy is also famous for it's shopping, gems and jewelry, handicrafts, batiks, silks etc. And you will have the opportunity of browsing to your heart's content.

Yala covers an area of 1260 square kilometers. The parks dry-zone landscape is strikingly beautiful and the parks wildlife has its own distinctive charm, with huddles of colorful painted storks perched on the incongruously conjoined sight of elephants marching sedately through the bush while rabbits scamper through the undergrowth. Thereafter, proceed to do Scuba diving at The Great Basses Reef - a stunning underwater world located off the southern coast of Sri Lanka, near Tissamaharama, known for its vibrant coral formations and diverse marine life.
